Every year or so, I grow my hair long and then chop it off. Don’t get me wrong – I love long, straight hair… but occasionally, I would want something different and of late I was getting (a little) tired of my waist-length hair.
Initially, I thought I’d go for a drastic short, choppy crop – similar to this [link] as an alternative to the layered cut I get all the time. But I knew I wouldn’t be able to go through with it the next day.
Then came the multi-layered shag. I liked it best at shoulder-length and longer [link, link ]. Or maybe even shorter [link]. It would be a first.
So, at the salon I told her what I wanted in detail (I think I may have scared her a little, too). But no matter how much I insisted, she refused to cut it shoulder-length, claiming it would thin out my hair. Later I would come home and find this [link] to fully understand what she meant. I gave in and let her keep it long – much like this one [link] but longer (mid back).
I absolutely love the layers – it’s such a refreshing change for me. And I say this despite having to tame those very lovable layers every morning…

As unhelpful as this illustration is, do note the lack of stick figures this time.

Love the visual description of the hair. I’ll have to do a hair post myself since there was a huge enough change from the summer (I blame the trip entries preventing me to do so atm lol) I wish I was capable of giving enough detail… but I never do. But wow your hair must be pretty long looking at those pics *_*
Your morning after reminds me much of my own unruly hair in the morning except it likes going Dragon Ball like more often than I would like.
I love those trip entries though. You definitely should some time, it’d be fun. =)
I don’t know. To me, short hair is anything above the collar-bone, and long is anything up to and past the waist. If I had to, I’d call mine normal/medium length… I think there’s a cultural influence to it too, since traditionally Indians (or Asians in general) tend to grow their hair longer.
But then I have a shorter collarbone to waist body length, and if I had my sister’s hair as it is right now, it could easily make it to my waist when it only reaches halfway down her back because she’s taller, etc.
That’s so true in terms of Indians tend to keep their hair long… I remember my Indian friends generally didn’t have short hair and the idea of it seemed unreal. They were saying OMG I’d never cut my long hair… One of them actually did by the end (and ironically it wasn’t the one that always got her hair stuck on the chairs when she had to get up for the national anthem in the morning in HS)
That’s really long! I’ve never grown my hair that long… yet, lol.
