The sentimental key chain
Category: Art & Design, Hobbies

I just spent and hour and half converting a tiny little address book into a portable key chain. The address book was a gift from my sister (it was 10 Rs which is around 2 cents). At it’s price it wasn’t much to see. So I took out my scrap booking stuff, punched a hole and transformed it into a key chain.

Tiny book key chain

The silver ribbon that goes across the middle from the front to back is actually from an old birthday present; it effectively covers an ugly telephone icon on the front. The stickers are glow-in-the-dark ones that my friends and I obsess over. The letter “A” charm is one of the two that my sister and I bargained for at an exhibition a few years ago (both our names begin with A).

The shiny silver paper on the underside of the front and back covers (that you see in the fourth photo) is just more wrapping paper from past presents. The textured beige paper that you see in the second and third photos are actually cut pieces of sample wallpaper that my cousin and I collected in large amounts on a crazy whim from Office Depot over two years ago.

So while it doesn’t look like much, it has a lot of sentiment attached to it. Now you also know how much of a pack rat I am. =P

Thanks <3

@ Anna: No actually, I don’t. My scrapbooking stuff is just a compilation of things I haven’t thrown away - wrapping paper, in fact paper of all kinds - magazine pages + cut outs, newspaper clippings, tissue paper, felt, foam, stickers, markers, sparkle stuff, stamps, ribbons, etc., etc., etc. People would think it’s junk, but to me, it’s like a scrapbooking treasure of some sort. ;)

But, yes, you can find a whole variety of scrapbooking sets online or at your local crafts store just as easily. :)

@ Faye: We should :D

@ Philene: LOL

@ Mei Zhu: True, it’s really tiny. I haven’t tried writing on it, I don’t think I want to either xP

Wow, it looks awe-some. <3
Maybe next time, we can open an art & craft shop together lol. =P

OH SO CUTE! Do you have a scraping book set or something? I need to go buy one of those! (:

That is so cute~ I think it’s really nice that you were able to combine so many things from the past and make something like that with such sentimental value. I’m such a packrat myself (thinking about the piles of things I really should clean up)

How cute! I love what you’ve done to that little book. I’m a big pack rat too, but most of my stuff ends up collecting dust in a box. I think that’s cool that you gave the book another use.

Clever! It really looks lovely. I’m terrible with arts and crafts mainly because I don’t have a steady hand. If it were me with that little book, I’d have destroyed before I even got to punch a hole @.@

That’s adorable! You did a really wonderful job on the keychain.

That’s a really tiny phonebook though… I don’t think I’d even be able to write anything in one as small as that, let alone read off phone numbers.

Very creative. It turned out great too. lol I’m those kind of people who hold on to random stuff because they have special memories attached. I usually don’t upgrade it like you do, I just leave it around the house and yell at my mom when she tries to through it away. lol
