Quirky food associations
Category: Doodling, Humor, Oddity

You know those things that people say about food that make you rethink whether to eat them or not?

For example: Eating chocolates cause pimple/acne outbreaks (which by the way, is not true nor has it been proven to be; Acne does not depend on diet {or sex and/or exercise})

Despite that, every time I eat that piece of chocolate, I brace myself for that pimple that could appear the next day.

When I eat cheese or fatty foods like pizza, I actually have visions of little fat molecules going and clogging my arteries. Observe:

Quirky Food Associations

In reality, it really depends on what kind of fat is in the food; saturated & trans (the bad) vs. poly/mono unsaturated (the good). And they don’t… lounge around like that. This is what it really looks like.

When I eat those olives, which I happen to adore, I visualize them chasing off that fat and clearing up those arteries.

Quirky Food Associations

They don’t really do that either. O_O They are healthy in the way that they help lower bad cholesterol though.

The same goes for other foods. Too much oily food brings on a headache that is sometimes temporarily cured by drinking water. Again, no sound reasoning, only that it “clears” it away for a while.

Before I get carried away, do you guys have weird food associations that go against (or with) logic and literature?

hahaha! what kawaii images xD

I don’t think I ever think about what I’m eating, unless it is something I know that will make my stomach hurt the next day or something. haha

Oh boy, when I eat Hot Cheetos, I can feel my pimples popping up one by one. I still continue eating, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just a feeling. XD

Your drawings are a lot cuter than the real thing. The real stuff looks gross lol.

Joyce » 09 Mar, 2008 at 2:53 pm

Haha, that’s cute!
Yeah, I do that too sometimes. The visuals would be reeling in my head until I realize what I’m doing -_-

I love those drawings, they’re so adorable.

I always get hestiate when I eat toast. But god I like toast and other bread products, but they all go to my hips and thighs :yell: stupid bread why do you have to be so good!

Those drawings are so adorable!

I… try not to think about what I eat, unfortunately. Ignorance is bliss, or something like that? At least, it’s bliss until I start gaining oodles of weight.

Cat » 03 Mar, 2008 at 4:18 pm

Ahahahaha… Oh yes.. Though I don’t worry much about breaking into pimples.. Chocolate makes me fat. I still love eating it though. Chocolate is yummy. I don’t like olives though…

I really, really love your layout!!!! Would you like to link exchange?

Grrr at both Leo and Faye for their likely fast metabolism~ I haven’t studied enough on fast metabolism yet… but I wonder if there would be implications on how people absorb nutrients if it goes too fast O_o; (I’ll need to look into that)

Anyhow, I remember the whole egg thing XD; Well the banana thing is mainly the first few days when it can get really heavy. As for the curry, I think its my body reacting to the bambi more than the actual curry but who knows. It could be that I’m not used to it since I don’t eat it often enough.

Faye » 01 Mar, 2008 at 6:28 pm

I think.. I do. o_o
I can skip meals, but I couldn’t help myself not eating anything, so I usually have snacks, fruits, biscuits.. Especially after CNY, I ate almost 70% of all the CNY cookies at home. (which is a lot.. no kidding.) But I gain nothing. (I’m a bit weight-conscious though, cause I always think myself as fat, but people around me thinks I’m slim.. ^^;)

Maybe we’re the same Leo. Wow.

Leo » 01 Mar, 2008 at 2:29 am

OMG, YES! That is ENTIRELY true for me! You know how we always talk and I always eat? And i eat at midnight and at 2 am? I always eat! And remember how I said that I never get full? It’s true! I always eat and I’m always in the kitchen. And on top of that, my stomach grumbles constantly at school and people think I fart.

Aelyn » 29 Feb, 2008 at 8:51 pm

@ Leo: I hate you.

But then again, I read some where that people with high metabolism are uneasy without food, constantly needing to nibble on something. Does that happen with you?

Leo » 28 Feb, 2008 at 6:15 pm

I have a fast metabolism too. I eat and eat fast food and junk food and I NEVER gain any weight. Last time I ate fast food for an entire week (yes thats how much I love fast food) and gained nothing. I always eat a bunch of chocolate and still I gain nothing.

As much as I was addicted to fast food and candy, I haven’t been eating them as much anymore. Actually since we moved, I no longer live by a gas station so I couldn’t walk down to get any candy, and I kind got sick of fast food now, along with the fast that the idiots keep forgetting to put mayo on my sandwhich. LOL

Faye » 28 Feb, 2008 at 5:22 pm

I don’t think so.. but I hope so! xDD

@ Skye: You know I once tried the calorie way. Approximate calories taken through food and then burnt and realize that i wasn’t burning any off to be significant for weight change. And it was true, my weight stayed the same. I like the small-portion idea. Missing meals was a disaster too, I ended up fully binging on junk food. :blank:

@ Anna: LOL. I love fruits in general, they make me feel so clean. Aii, another quirky association. =P

@ Faye: Are you one of those people who have fast metabolisms? My sister is just like you, she eats and never has to worry about putting on extra pounds.

@ Tammy: My dad is so health conscious, it’s insane. And he has good reason to be, but that’s rubbed onto us and my mom in many ways. You already know about the no-yolk-in-anything thing. No bananas during your period? That’s the first I’ve heard of it. I must investigate. XD

It is hehe. I love spicy Curry. It’d just be sad if they caused skin reactions like that. -_- Maybe it’s because you’re not used to it?

Tammy » 28 Feb, 2008 at 12:45 am

Because I grew up with my mom constantly harping me about cold/heaty foods, in spite of not fully believing it, some scar remain. For example, I won’t eat bananas on the first few days of my period because I feel like I would have a heavier period. Thinks like curry bambi (which fully bit me back in the ass for making curry out of it, made me break out in pimples it wasn’t even funny.) Then again, I guess curry for nearly 5 days striaght just to finsih it did some damage (apparently both are pretty heaty foods?) I’m a weird kid with these things.

The pictures are mega cute XD I love the olive images (is that a ninja olive I see?) That’s why I would fully eat more salmon if I could afford it with all the omega 3… I think what people seem to not think about is that, fatty foods may not be good for you, but its’ not so much as completely eliminating it (though trans fats for example are almost fully avoidable) but learning to control the portions… so even if you eat healthy, it doesn’t help if you eat more than you expend in terms of energy. There is nothing wrong with chocolate here and there and fat is not so much as evil then the amount and type as you said (oh geez I’m babbling again)

Faye » 27 Feb, 2008 at 11:47 pm

Cute! I mean your drawing.
You have great imagination don’t you? Lol. <3

Anyway, my weight hardly change, no matter how much or less I ate. But pimples, yes. I still love chocolates though. xD

I love to eat. So to me, either you eat (good/delicious food that might be fattening) without limiting yourself, or you don’t at all. And it’s a grateful thing, to be able to eat.

Anna » 27 Feb, 2008 at 8:20 pm

LMAO, I love those little drawings! They are so cute (: You are such a little nerd (and I mean that in the most loving way possible XD).

For food, I really like oranges; during the summer I eat five or six a day -_-;;

Skye » 27 Feb, 2008 at 7:14 pm

One time, I was trying to lose weight and Josh told me that I need to cut out the junk food that I have for most lunches and substitute healthy stuffage. I did and I gained weight. It wasnt that I was eating too much of it either because I really didnt want to eat a lot of that stuff ech. When I switched back to my normal, I lost. What I actually did was to cut back on portions. Same yummy food, just less of it. Lost the weight no problem.
